WHAT TO WEAR: Rainy Days

April showers bring May flowers, right? All I can tell you is that we have gotten a lot of rain this month here in Happy Valley, and I better see some flowers in May. The rainy weather is causing a bit of confusion in our outfits. We just want to look fresh and ready for spring but this weather is raining on our parade. This Fashionista did a great job of avoiding the usual sweatpants and rain boots while staying very stylish on this rainy day.

Although rain tends to bring out the dark colors in our outfits, this Fashionista avoided that by using her pants as an amazing pop of color. The red really brings out her hair color while simultaneously brightening up the look. The high-waisted pants are a great way to incorporate a hot trend into an everyday look for school and classes.

Along with the rain, we get a bit of cold. This Fashionista does a great job at staying bundled up with her patterned cardigan. The gray and white colors in the cardigan provide a nice variety to the black of her T-shirt and they also keep the outfit a little bit brighter! She does a great job of incorporating neutrals into the rainy day look without falling into the gloomy weather trap of getting too dark.

To top off the whole look this Fashionista went practical yet stylish with her choice of shoes. The gray boots have a great sole for the rainy weather and they are tall enough to protect you from the chill in the air. The color goes with the cardigan as a way to brighten up the look as opposed to a pair of black boots. This Fashionista shows us that the rain doesn’t always have to take away our spring style no matter how desperately we want to use it as an excuse to grab our favorite sweatpants.

One Simple Change: Swap the boots for Converse, lose the cardigan and add a light scarf in case a heat wave rolls around.
